An action by the ITSS, the Civil Guard and the Judicial Police of Cambados uncovers an alleged crime of labor exploitation in hospitality

The action was motivated by a complaint by a person who had been providing services in a company in the municipality of Cuntis (Pontevedra) and who said that foreign persons in an irregular situation were being employed.

Within the framework of this operation, called 'Bugonia' and developed by the Judicial Police Team in Cambados, on February 11, 2026 they were carried out three visits by the Galician Labour Inspectorate and the Judicial Police, simultaneously, to the 3 work centers that the company, Paraiba Negocios Sociedad Limitada, has in the province of Pontevedra; in particular, three hotel and catering establishments located in the municipalities of A Estrada, Cuntis and Pontevedra.

The actions of the Labour Inspectorate, resulting from these visits, are still unfinished. However, it could be verified employment of foreign persons in an irregular situation and identified 11 victims who were being exploited.

In addition, the police identified the perpetrator of alleged crimes against workers’ rights and threats. The investigator, a 53-year-old man, a neighbor of Cuntis, and with a police history, captured the victims through web pages with job offers, offering a work contract, a salary according to the schedule, accommodation and other facilities to access the post.

Once the victims moved to the province, They were forced to work all day long, being moved from local to local to cover different work shifts in different premises owned by the same person, and returned at the end of the working day to the place where they spent the night, located at the top of one of the premises.
